Laois School Students' Study Highlights Farmers' Battle With Mental Health

Their study found expectations and demands on farmers are making things worse.

There's a stigma surrounding farmers to be 'tough and hardy' that leads to trouble expressing their emotions.

Three students from Mountmellick Community School who come from farming backgrounds have conducted a study on the mental health of farmers following a challenging year of weather.

They found there has been confusion surrounding changes in policy and demands on farming communities.

Aoibhe Foyle, Lucy-Jane Burke and Rachel Heffernan, along with their ag science teacher Laura Burke say they focused on resources available to farmers such as helplines and Macra:
