Three Lithuanian men due in court charged with Athlone jewellery robbery

Three Lithuanian men are due to appear before Cloverhill District Court today, charged with robbing more than 90,000 euro worth of jewellery from an Athlone store.

The men, none of whom have an address in Ireland, were charged with the robbery which took place at Angela Blacoe Jewellers, Athlone on March 6 this year.

It's alleged they stole 51 rings from Theresa Carey to the value of 93,871.75. 24 year old Gytis Zienius, 29 year olds Egidijus Peciulis and Ovidijus Rumba, all of whom have addresses in Lithuania were arrested at Dublin Airport on March 10th and questioned at Athlone Garda Station.

No bail application was made and Judge John Neilan remanded them in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court later today.
