An Athlone businessman wants clarity surrounding casual trading in the Town.

The call by the General Manager of the Prince of Wales Hotel follows the setting up of 2 chip vans outside his premises for the Euro Festival.

Chris Vos says the Town Council has given the traders permission to operate from the location until Friday.

He claims the hotel supports the festival and has done everything to accommodate it including giving the use of its car park.

Mr Vos is critical of the local authority for not consulting with him before granting the licences and believes the move is unfair
