Athlone residents oppose mast in Rugby Club
Three resident groups in Athlone opposed to a mast at Buccaneers Rugby say they'll bring their cause to An Bord Pleanala if necessary
Today is the deadline for appeals to Athlone town Council against a planning application for the structure
The residents from McCormack Park, Whitebeam Avenue and Clonbrusk are concerned radiation from the mobile phone mast may affect people who live in the area and use the club's facilities.
Its also feared house values would drop.
Developer Vertical Property Holdings, says the mast will support 3G and 2G coverage - both mobile and broadband, to the townland of Clonbrusk and surrounding areas.
