FF creates rescue plan for 3 Offaly firestations
Fianna Fail is recommending a reduction in staffing requirements from 8 to 5 firefighter in a bid to save three Offaly firestations.
Daingean, Banagher and Kilcormac were flagged for closure in September by the County Council's executve.
It claimed all three are operating under man power which pays a health and safety risk. It also said it couldn't financially afford to keep them operating.
At yesterday's meeting of the Council, Manager Pat Gallagher welcomed the Fianna Fail rescue plan and said other groups within the chamber could put forward alternative proposals.
The matter will be discussed at next months budget meeting.
